A good custom build begins with questions, not renderings. Where will the boat spend most of its year? Who is aboard — a family, a dive operation, a charter programme? How many nights at anchor between provisioning? The answers shape length, draft, tankage and layout long before anyone talks about finishes.

Because Tana Beru builds shell-first and largely by hand, it is genuinely flexible. A frame position, a cabin bulkhead or a deck line can be adjusted on the hull in a way a moulded production boat never allows. That is the real meaning of bespoke here.

What You Actually Get to Choose

Length and beam within the naval-architecture envelope; the balance of sail and engine; the cabin count and their arrangement; the deck — dive platform, shaded lounge, or working aft; the timber mix for hull, deck and joinery; the interior style, from austere and nautical to warm modern. We keep every choice tied to consequence: more cabins costs waterline; a deeper keel buys stiffness but limits anchorages.

Honest Budget Bands, Openly Discussed

Custom does not have to mean a blank cheque. We plan against clear USD bands and tell you, early, where your wish-list sits inside them. If the brief and the budget do not meet, we say so and show you the two or three changes that close the gap — a metre of length, a simpler interior, a different timber for the topsides — rather than quietly cutting quality later.

‘Custom’ is an easy word to abuse. We use it to mean a boat genuinely engineered and built to your brief, documented at every milestone, with the trade-offs on the table.
